Protest against Communal Forces

People's Movement for Solidarity was a coalition of individuals and organizations who were outraged by the destruction of Babari Masjid, a mosque, by the Hindu fundamentalist forces in 1992.

The mosque was destroyed because the fundamentalists' claimed that the mosque was built on the site which was the birth place of Ram, one of the main Hindu gods.

This is one of the two posters that I designed. The illustration on the poster depicted the ten headed demon king Ravan using Ram face mask. The text reads 'used Ram's name, behaved like Ravan'. The typography was deliberately kept simple as it had to get the message across as quickly as possible. Most posters did not survive for very long as the communal forces tore them up as soon as they were pasted. The same slogans were also wall painted and they rarely survived for more than a day.

Given the current state of religious bigotry it does not seem that the message has got through.
