'India's Artisans : A status report'

india's artisans - a status report was eventually produced in 1995 after 8 years hard work. It has:

• A comprehensive compilation of information on the history and status of India's artisans
• A status report, reference manual and tool for advocacy all in one volume
• Essential reading for NGO's, government officials, planners and researchers interested in India's artisans

The design challenge was to create a consistent feel throughout the book and at the same time to give each chapter a distinct feel. It was edited by Kanika Satyanand and Shekhar Singh. Special information boxes which were spread throughout the book were given different borders depending on the subject. The boxes along with 40 photographs provided the 'colour' to the book. Photographs were scanned on a desktop scanner. Borders created with FrameEditor within Quark. Book printed using helio process (from negatives) to minimize costs.
